The object of the Soma Cube is to form different 3D shapes using all 7 pieces of the cube each time. Our Soma Cube Set comes with 50 challenge cards and two sets of pieces (14 total) so you can play by yourself or with another person. All pieces are contained in a neat little box with a lid. To play, choose a challenge card from the deck and try to recreate the shape on the card using all 7 pieces from your cube. When playing with another person, both players can compete to solve the same challenge or each player can choose their own. Need help? Don’t panic, the solution is on the back of the card. Soma Cube challenge cards have three difficulty levels: easy, medium, and hard - this allows each player to move at their own pace at any level.
The Soma cube was invented by Piet Hein in 1933. The traditional, original challenge was merely to form a cube using all 7 pieces. Unlike most puzzles, which might have only one unique solution, there are up to 240 ways to build the 3 x 3 x 3 cube! Geometry is truly a wonder. Soma Cube Puzzles build critical thinking skills and a fundamental understanding of geometry, making this a perfect educational game for children of all ages and skill levels.
